Carrey has dug himself into this genre more than anybody else. I doubt he could ever star in a non-comedic role - but working behind the camera I believe he will end up moulding people into the same frame that he has put upon himself.
Do you think the world can stand another Carrey or a Carrey jr? Jim Carrey was more novelty than anything else, IMHO. I can't imagine others wanting to compete with his earlier work.

For you who are Underworld fans, what aspect of the movies do you enjoy the most?
I love the clothing, especially in the scenes in the first movie with the vampires gathered at the covenstead.
It reminded me of people visiting the royal court during the 15th and 16th centuries.

Film Discussions / Coming Soon / Re: Wolverine

Well, if there had to be an X-Men spin off, Wolverine is the best character to start with, IMHO.
I didn't see the release date but I hope it is a bit edgier than the X-Men movies.
There is potential for some great action films involving Wolverine as a major character in the three X-Men films, we found out how he became who he was but there was quite a lot we still didn't discover about him. Maybe this could turn into something a series of films about each of the main characters and how they grew up and dealt with the discovery of their powers, all leading into them finding themselves at the 'school'. I bet they could carry this off without becoming too redundant. I would hate to see an X-Men series end up like The Matrix, where the action gets too predictable or good plots are sacrificed in favor of special effects!

Film Discussions / The People / Re: Favorite Actor/Actress

This is a tough question.
When I think of actors who truly act, I think of Johnny Depp. He changes his personality and physical behavior to actually create a character.
When I see other actors they seem more predictable. Just as John Wayne was always just John Wayne reading different lines, too many actors say the lines, move around the scenery, and manifest some emotion, but their style and personalities don't actually change.

Film Discussions / General Film Discussions / You Favorite Remake to Date?

Right now, I have to say that I was most impressed with the last remake of King Kong.
The movie was longer than the original or the first remake, with Jessica Lange, treating the viewers to better character development.
The dinosaur stampede was hilarious, in its own way.
What is your favorite remake, to date?

Film Discussions / Coming Soon / Re: Bolt

You probably will not get a discount because at least at my local theater the price to see the 3D version is the same as seeing a non-3D movie and the glasses are just a freebie and not part of the ticket price.
As for the movie, Bolt, it does seem somewhat interesting, but I think I will wait for it to come on DVD to see it.
Here, the ticket price was higher for our last 3-D, than the other movies, which led me to believe we paid for 3-D glasses with the ticket price.

For some reason, Yes Man feels like Liar, Liar.
Could it be that Carrey needs to change his genre, or start working behind the camera instead of starring in projects?

Seven Pounds falls into our DVD list, even though we are Will Smith fans.
We try to reserve the theater budget for movies that are laced special effects and a lot of fantasy.

I don't think I will see Twilight unless on DVD. There's something about the "I was a high school vampire" that I find lackluster, at best.
I will say, however, that it is nice to see a film released in time to compete with High School Musical!

This movie does not look like anything I want to see! I'm not a fan of Anjelina Jolie - not since she split up Brad and Jen.
It also looks really sad- The son is missing and they try to give her another boy. I will wait until it comes out on DVD.
Well it isn't as if Brad didn't make any decisions regarding the split! But then, I don't know how any woman could compete with Angelna Jolie. She seems to be quite the force of nature.

It is Alice in Wonderland that he is shooting, due to be released in 2010. From what I have seen, he can play any part really well - Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Willy Wonka), Pirates of the Caribbean (Jack Sparrow). He is somebody to keep an eye on as I can see him playing some amazing roles in the future - much like The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, where Johnny Depp, Jude Law, Colin Farrell and Heath Ledger all play the same person - I'm interested to see how that turns out. Oh wow! The Imaginarium sounds like a must see. It already sounds extremely intense. Did you see Depp in The Libertine?

I believe he will slowly transition into other things rather than being an actor. Take a look at his profile on IMDB, look at all of the films he has produced. I know many of them he has also had the lead role - but what is to stop him doing both for a long time yet.
I don't feel Will Smith would need to do anymore movies - from the amount of films he has starred in - he should be able to last a long time on that kind of money.
It has to be extremely fulfilling to create your own work, laying a foundation for others to follow in your footsteps. Mr. Smith may have his own company that rivals the old studios like Paramount, in the future.
